For any offshore workers, there are two mandatory requirements that they need to have prior to travelling offshore.
First is to have valid Medical Assessment from PETRONAS Approved Medical Examiners (AME) or sometimes known as Fitness To Work (FTW). This medical assessment is done to ensure personnel travelling offshore is in fit condition as well as to identify any medical condition that might affect ability of personnel from working safely and in efficient manner. This medical certificate is typically valid for two(2) years, however the frequency may increase if clinically indicated.
Second is to have valid offshore safety training, BOSIET ( Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) certificate from OPITO recognized training providers. BOSIET course equipped participants with knowledge and skills for any emergencies during travelling and working offshore, including safety induction, helicopter safety & escape training, sea survival & first aid, fire fighting & self rescue. Validity for BOSIET training is for four (4) years.

Typically, one is required to complete medical assessment before they can register for BOSIET course. As for the training fee, it may be different from one training centre to another and can be ranged from RM1800 and above
