Seadrill has been awarded contracts for West Carina by PTTEP Malaysia for four firm wells with six optional wells for an undisclosed fee.
“The contract is expected to commence in Q1 2020, which fits nicely with a five-year classing currently under way in Malaysia”. Seadrill President and CEO, Anton Dibowitz said this during Q3 2019 earnings call last week.
According to the Q3 2019 Fleet Status Report, the contract expected to commence in January 2020 and runs through June 2020. West Carina previously completed two wells contract with Petronas in Malaysia earlier this year.
West Carina is a 6th Generation ultra-deepwater drillship, built in 2015 with operational capability of drilling in water depth of 12,000 feet and drilling depth of 40,000 feet.
